A volume of studies dedicated to Professor Janusz S. Gruchała, an outstanding literary historian and editor. He has dealt and continues to deal with the reception of classical culture in modern Europe, New Latin literature, the works of Old Polish poets writing in Polish and Latin, the history of the book, the legacy of scholars connected with the Kraków Academy, twentieth-century literature created in exile and, above all, scientific editing. Most of the articles collected in this "book of friends" refer to research areas close to the Jubilarian. Their authors are researchers of several generations, working in the best academic centres in our country, the greats of the Polish humanities and young scholars.
