You can’t get enough good proverbs: Aspects of Contemporary Polish Paremiology.
This book is a result of Grzegorz Szpila’s longstanding interest and research into proverbs in contemporary Polish. The author attempts to paint a comprehensive picture of paremiology, including both the theoretical aspects of the subject, as well as the analytical methods used in the study of proverbs. He examines paremias from the synchronic perspective in order to examine illustrative Polish examples from the first two decades of the 21st century. In the book proverbs are considered from many different angles, including formal, semantic, pragmatic and discursive standpoints. In his analyses the author provides numerous and varied examples extracted from, amongst others, dictionaries, literature, advertisements, as well as the mass and social media. The book is intended primarily for those undertaking research into proverbs, but can also be used as a practical introduction to paremiology
