The book Stanąć po stronie tłumacza (To Take the Translator’s Side) proposes a new outlook on the phenomenon of translation: it is not concerned with tracking down errors, which is translation critics’ favourite task, but focuses on translators’ achievements that are the essence of their work. Another novelty is an attempt at combining hermeneutical perspective with the descriptive approach which was postulated by Antoine Berman (although he never managed to implement it completely).
