The monograph entitled Mankind, local and state government in the presence of dangers against cultural heritage during peace and wartime is an interdisciplinary publication, created as a response to current issues related to the protection of broadly understood cultural assets around the world. The time in which this publication was created (years 2023-2024) falls on the twentieth anniversary of the adoption of the Act of 23rd of July 2003 on the protection and care of cultural heritage (in Poland) and the seventieth anniversary of the acceptance of the Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property at the International Conference in The Hague in 1954 in the Event of Armed Conflict. These anniversaries, in the context of the international circumstances surrounding us, prompted the authors of this monograph to thought on a number of reflections on the protection of cultural property during an ongoing conflict, as well as in the event of its occurrence. The issue of securing collections and their restitution, protection of museum facilities as well as the aspect of their functioning and organization - have been discussed in the presented monograph. At the same time, we cannot forget about the most important aspect, which is long-term care and protection of cultural heritage. This continuity of care allows us to preserve monuments for future generations. The authors of the monograph touched upon the issues of revitalization of cultural heritage and financing of conservation works, as well as discussion about doctrinal disputes connected to the interpretation of regulations related to the protection of monuments. In the current edition of the monograph, scientists also focus on issues of cultural landscape and the revitalization of public spaces - which proves positive social changes, where sensitivity to the world around us increases, and the issue of climate changes is important for the monographs authors.
