Book description
Polemics and Persuasions
1947-2006
The author engages in a polemic with the theoretical views upheld, among others, by Roman Ingarden, Roman Jakobson, Jurij M. Łotman, Paul de Man, Stanley Fish, Hayden White, Stefan Żółkiewski, Janusz Sławiński, Stanisław Lem and Michał P. Markowski. The subject-matter of these polemics are the determining factors of literature, the structure and semantics of a literary work, the theory of poetic language, the role of readers in the development of literature, the principles of interpretation and the literary value of historiography.
