The authors propose a review of literary applications and ways of understanding the important category of nomadicity, widely discussed in contemporary humanities. On the one hand, they are interested in the limits of this concept, and on the other hand, in presenting the range of possible approaches. For this reason, the book is an internally diverse proposition, mapping a wide area of application of the title category. The chapters are devoted not only to its narrow understanding, but also to the intertwining of this concept with the practices of walking, mapping, traveling, with the motif of the road or the problem of the body in literature or the concept of non-place.
The historical, territorial and cultural diversity of the analyzed examples is an asset of the book. The idea behind the category of nomadicity reflects in the structure and content of the volume. As explained in the introduction, it is primarily the concept of multiplicity opposed to hierarchy and dogmatism. The review and recapitulation of vague and often used concepts, such as nomadicity itself, checking their relevance and methods of functioning in the humanities, on material located at the intersection of various cultural circles, is an important task. The presented volume is its successful implementation.
