Qualification of Manuscripts

Eligibility rules for publication at the Jagiellonian University Press aim to ensure the highest quality of the academic publications. The publisher uses different qualification procedures depending on the nature of the publication submitted.

Path 1 – Publication to published in an existing series

Stage 1
Manuscript is submitted to the Academic Editor/Editorial Board of the series who evaluate the work as to its merit, innovative approach and validity of argumentation. They also decide whether it is consonant with the adopted editorial strategy. The Academic Editor/ Editorial Board has the right to decline the text if it does not meet the requirements of the series.

Stage 2
In case of a positive opinion of the Academic Editor / Editorial Board of the series, after confirmation of funding, completion of the original material and preliminary editorial verification, the work is handed over to a reviewer. The reviewer evaluates the text, indicates errors and shortcomings, suggests corrections, and formulates an opinion whether the text should be published by the JUP. In the case of a negative or ambiguously positive review, the Publisher has the right to refuse to decline the submitted text.

Stage 3
The Publisher, in consultation with the Author and the Editorial Board of the series, determines the method, date and form of publication, consistent with the schedule of the series and proposes a strategy for promotion, distribution and dissemination of the publication, in particular its inclusion in relevant Polish and international reference databases (more>>).
