The central part of the study Marcion's Gospel and the Canonical Synoptic Gospels... consists of comparative analyses of the reconstructed scope (rather than the exact vocabulary!) of Marcion's text with the texts of the canonical Gospels. This leads the author to conclude that Marcion's Gospel was an earlier version of the canonical Gospel of Luke, and that both texts were most likely written by the same author. In the latter, final edition, this editor would have made extensive use of other sources, among which a text close to Matthew can be identified, but more primitive in its literary character than its canonical counterpart. Thus, G. Wingert advocates somewhat forgotten models of the multi-stage formation of the Synoptic Gospels, similar, for example, to Boismard's model.
