The monograph Georg Büchner’s Atlas of Anatomy is divided into two parts devoted to an analysis and interpretation of the writings of the German writer, researcher and revolutionary, carried out with the use of varied methodological tools. This division is intended to correspond to the duality of the classical anatomical text (consisting of a descriptive part and an interpretative one) and to the duality of the writing strategy of Büchner himself whose special features as an author are the use of metonymy and metaphor in similar proportions in both scientific and literary texts, as well as the juxtaposition of anatomical (in a broad, figurative sense, including e.g. the anatomy of the French Revolution or the Hessian economy) description and philosophical interpretation.
