The book titled „Na drodze do samodzielności. Ewolucja instytucji samorządu Inuitów w kanadyjskiej Arktyce” [On the road to self-governance. The evolution of Inuit self-government institutions in the Canadian Arctic] focuses on the political developments in the Canadian Arctic related to the process of reclaiming land rights and the growth of Inuit self-government, beginning in the 1960s. On the one hand, the aim of the monograph is to show the road Inuit went through to regain their political self-determination. Thus, the book explains the genesis, as well as developments and consequences of processes leading to the establishment of Inuit self-government institutions in the autonomous Inuit regions: Nunavik, Inuvialuit Settlement Region, Nunavut and Nunatsiavut. On the other hand, the book focuses on the evolution of the territorial system in northern Canada resulting from the devolution of power. The book shows the four parts of Inuit Nunangat – "the place where Inuit live" – in the context of the yet unfinished transformation of the socio-political position of Inuit within the Canadian federation.
